The Hungarian audience can hardly have expected with greater excitement Klemperer’s first appearance at the Opera House sixty years ago as it did Ádám Fischer’s conducting Wagner at the Palace of Arts this time. Ever since Parsifal’s brilliant production last year we tend to believe that it is possible to stage an opera on world standard in Hungary. The Budapest Symphony Orchestra and Ádám Fischer have the credit for it. It is almost inconceivable that an ensemble unaccustomed to stage performances should be capable of playing a piece by Wagner, by the way not regularly on its programme, in a way surpassing the orchestras of large opera houses. – Heti Válasz, Zoltán Rockenbauer 2007

– When we have the possibility to do things with a bigger orchestra than in Paris, we integrate into our work this possibility, since we know we can come here and realise larger project.
